STARSKATE SOLO SUNDAY
Further Information:
This additional session is a great opportunity to train skaters on program components and develop their skating skills that relate to performance. We can move our focus onto this session for skaters with existing programs to further develop the programs without the stress of a full ice of skaters, and skaters who do not yet have programs have the opportunity to learn program choreography together that can be performed at the ice show in March.
In addition to the on-ice component, we would like to offer an off-ice segment where we watch a senior competitive program at home, and then review it together at the rink and discuss. Just as hockey players watch NHL games, it's important for figure skaters to watch international competitors to learn what to aspire to in our sport. As well, we will take an extra couple of minutes to practice our sport specific flexibility off-ice to encourage flexibility work at home.
This additional session will allow us to shift our focus on the Monday and Thursday sessions to isolated element development that better accommodate the busy session.
