VESC CanSkate for 2020/2021 Winter Session
Welcome to the Valley East Skating Club CanSkate winter session for the 2020/2021 season.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are some changes to the programming this season - namely that the coaches and program assistants MUST maintain social distancing with the skaters with absolutely NO physical contact. Please read through the 2 programs available and register your skater accordingly.
Pre-CanSkate
This is the Pre-CanSkate program. It is for new skaters who can't stand or move on the ice by themselves. A parent/guardian MUST accompany the skater on the ice.
- Also referred to as Parents & Tots.
- The cost is $200.00 plus an additional cost of $40.00 to register the accompanying parent/guardian/sibling with Skate Canada for a total of $240.00. One parent/guardian/sibling can accompany up to two children from the same family.
- The parent/guardian/sibling that is registered is the one that must accompany the child on the ice all season and must be at least 10 years old. If you need a different parent/guardian/sibling for any reason, the other parent/guardian/sibling must also register as well at a cost of $40.00
- The Skate Canada fee for parents/guardians is not refundable.
- Once the child graduates to the CanSkate program, the parent/guardian/sibling will no longer be required or allowed on the ice.
- The parent/guardian/sibling must wear skates and be able to skate in order to assist the child.
- The parent/guardian/sibling along with the skater must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet. All other helmets (bike, baseball, snowmobile etc...) are not allowed.
- For this season, CanSkate will only be offered on Thursday evenings from 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm.
- The sessions will begin on January 21, 2021 and run for 8 weeks.
- There will be a maximum of 25 skaters per session for both Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate programs combined . If demand is high and there is enough skaters, we will look at adding a second Thursday session with details to be announced later. Be sure to add your skater to the wait list to secure your spot if the program is full.
- All the club Covid-19 protocols must be followed.
- Skate Ontario and City of Greater Sudbury waivers must be filled out and given to a club official for each person going on the ice.
