CanSkate |
For this
Learn to Skate program, children should be at least four (4) years
of age. The children will be split into groups of from five to eight
skaters, and each group will receive at least one ten minute lesson with
a professional coach. Program Assistants will then work with each group
to practice what they have been taught. |
|
|
Pre Junior |
Although not an absolute prerequisite,
skaters should have completed one or two years of the CanSkate program.
This Learn to Figure Skate program teaches edges, spins,
jumps and dances. Each week, the skaters will receive a forty five
minute group lesson from a professional coach and the balance of the
time will be spent practicing. Program Assistants are on the ice at all
times to help the skaters. At this level, private lessons are also
available from Skate Canada certified professional coaches. |

|
Junior |
At the junior level, skaters have entered
into the Skate Canada test stream. They must have passed any part of the Skate Canada
Test stream and must currently be working on a one and one half (1 1/2) minute
solo to music. The only group lessons offered at this level
are Stroking and Edges. For all other facets of the program, skaters
must receive private lessons from a Skate Canada certified
professional coach. |
|
|
Intermediate |
Private lessons are a requirement. Skaters
entering the Intermediate level must have successfully completed the
complete set of Skate Canada Preliminary Dance
tests. Stroking and Edges are taught in a group lesson format. |
|
|
Senior |
Again, private lessons are mandatory. Again, only Stroking and Edges are taught in groups. Skaters entering this level must have passed the Skate Canada Junior Bronze Free Skate test. | |
